5 Games You Should Play This Weekend
It's hot out, so that's the perfect excuse to hole up inside with some video games.
If you've been looking for new games to play, or can't decide which of your Steam Summer Salepurchases to play first, Mashable has got you covered. We rounded up new and noteworthy titles from this week, as well as great games that are now on sale.

1. The Drowning
Touchscreens and first-person shooters haven't been the best of friends in the past, but that's all changing with The Drowning. The post-apocalyptic game pits you against armies of monsters that rose up after being infected by an an evil oil slick.SEE ALSO: Finally, a First-Person Shooter You Can Play on a TabletThe Drowning creator Ben Cousins said his team spent time developing a game that would work with touch gestures, but still offered a fun experience for hardcore players. Moving, aiming and shooting can all be done by tapping and swiping.The Drowning went on sale this week for iOS, and is free. The game includes in-app purchases for players to upgrade their weapons, so they can bypass collecting items in the game.2. Tiny Thief
Steal from the rich, and don't get caught -- that's the basic premise of Tiny Thief, which is published by Rovio under its Rovio Stars program.You play a mini bandit in this cute mobile game, partnering up with a sneaky ferret, who must steal food and other items from guards and shopkeepers to feed the poor.The art is charming, and the gameplay is simple, yet addictive. What's more, each level has a secret objective.Best of all? It's only a buck after a recent price drop. Pick it up on iOS and Android while it lasts.3. Shadowrun Returns
We haven't seen many of Kickstarter games hit the market, but one of the crowdfunding platform's biggest game successes early on is now available for purchase. Shadowrun Returns, which earned $1,895,772 in 2012, is out now for Windows and Mac.It's a tactical role-playing game based on the popular tabletop franchise. The setting is a dark, cyberpunk world infused with magic and fantasy. The game allows players to create a character from one of six classes, and complete missions to unravel a mystery.Shadowrun Returns costs $19.99, and is available on Steam.4. Runner 2
For bargain-hunters looking for something new, you can pick up a whole slew of amazing indie titles for a low price. Gaijin Games is launching a "good friends sale" for its amazingly addictive game, Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien.The gorgeous platformer takes you through a wild variety of worlds, all set to an awesome electronic soundtrack. It's received a huge amount of critical acclaim since its release earlier this year. But for just $25, you can snag Runner 2, along with amazing indies, Super Meat Boy, Cave Story+, Psychonauts, Machinarium and Portal 2. You also get a whole set of avatars from those games that work in Runner 2.The sale lasts until Monday morning on Steam for PC and Mac, so get these great games while you can.5. Cloudberry Kingdom
If you're looking for a game that's blisteringly difficult while still maintaining a cute exterior, you might enjoy Cloudberry Kingdom.The platformer uses procedurally generated levels (a fancy way of saying each playthrough is different).not only adjusts to player's skills, but also allows them to use a detailed options menu to adjust every aspect of their character. Players can change the distance of their character's jumps, its size, or how how responsive it is to controls, to create the most satisfying -- and challenging -- experience. The game can be played by up to four people at once.
Cloudberry Kingdom also has cute scenes in its story mode, including voice work by Kevin Sorbo ofHercules fame. It's out now for Xbox Live Arcade, Wii U, Steam on Windows and PlayStation Network.
